인디애나 한인회 재발족 및 한인회장 취임식
지난 1월 19일 토요일 오후 5시, 인디애나폴리스 The Fort Golf Course의 Ballroom에서 많은 분들이 고대하시던 인디애나 한인회의 재출범 및 우해수 한인회장의 취임식이 성대하게 개최되었습니다.
이번 겨울 들어 가장 안좋았던 날씨에도 200여 명이 넘는 내빈 여러분들께서 참석하셔서 자리를 빛내주시고 축하해 주셨습니다. 아시아계로써는 처음으로 인디애나 하원의원으로 당선된 크리스 정(최연소 25세)의원이 참석하여 축사를 해주었고, 시카고총영사관 김지만영사, 멀리 미네소타에서 비행기를 타고 오신 안대식 중서부한인연합회장, 인디애나 한인목회자협의회, 인디애나폴리스 시장 조 혹세트께서 축사메세지를 보냄과 동시에 이 날을 “한국의 날”로 선포 하였습니다.
로렌스 시장 스티브 콜리어 또한 축사를 보내주시며 앞으로 한인 커뮤니티와의 화합을 다짐하였습니다. 우해수 인디애나 한인회장은 이날 인사말을 통해 회장으로 당선된 소감과 함께 앞으로 한인회가 이끌어 나갈 행사와 이벤트 그리고 계획들을 발표하고 인디애나 한인들이 하나되어 지역사회와 어우러져 함께 발전해 나갈 수 있도록 노력하겠다고 밝혔습니다. 오랜 시간 부재중이었던 인디애나의 한인회가 새로이 재정돈되어 출범한 만큼 더욱 단단하고 외부와 적극적으로 소통하는 활발한 단체로 거듭나기를 기원합니다.
이날의 준비를 위해 오랜 시간 계획하고 프로그램을 제작한 우해수회장 이하 한인회 임원들과 이사진(이사장 성봉제)들께 진심으로 감사와 축하의 말씀을 전합니다. 다시 한번 나쁜 날씨에도 취임식에 참여하여 자리를 빛내주신 여러분들께 진심으로 감사의 말씀을 전합니다. 여러분들의 후원과 관심이 없었다면 불가능한 시작이었을 것입니다. 감사합니다.
On Saturday, January 19th, the official launch ceremony of the Korean American Association of Indiana and the inauguration of the President were held at the Fort Golf Course Resort in Indianapolis.
Even though it was not the best weather, over 200 guests and dignitaries joined us to congratulate the momentous occasion. The first Asian American Indiana State Representative, Chris Chyung (age 25), Ji Mahn Kim, the Consul from the Consulate of the Republic of Korea in Chicago, the President of the Midwest Federation of Korean American Association, the President of the Korean Pastors Association of Indiana, and Jordan Rodriguez, representing the Mayor of Indianapolis Joe Hogsett, delivered congratulatory messages.
Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett remarked this day, January 19th, by declaring it as a ‘Korea Day’. Steve Collier, the Mayor of the City of Lawrence, sent a congratulatory message as well and promised to work together with the Korean Community. Many Local and national companies such as Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, Indiana Members Credit Union, PNC Bank, American Family Insurance, Saraga International Market, Asian American Alliance, and many other businesses and organizations donated and sponsored this event. The President of the Korean American Association of Indiana, Hai Soo Woo, shared the plans and upcoming events of KAAIndiana and promised to do his best to make Korean Americans of Indiana become one unity and work together with other local communities.
The long awaited Korean American Association of Indiana has finally formed. As an organization, it will communicate and collaborate with other groups to actively serve the community. Thank you so much to the officers of KAAIndiana and the Board Members for the time, talent, treasure and dedication to prepare this great start.
