2019년 4월 14일 인디애나폴리스에에 위치한 Castleview Church 경기에서 2019 인디애나 한인 체육대회가 성황리에 개최되었다. 궃은 날씨에서도 불구하고 약 500 여 명이 넘는 많은 한인 여러분들이 참여한 이 행사에서 축구, 농구 등 단체 경기를 비롯하여 여러가지 재미있는 미니 게임으로 이루어진 명랑운동회가 준비되어 남녀노소를 가리지 않고 오래간만에 많은 한인 여러분들이 한자리에 모여 즐거운 시간을 가졌다. 인디애나 우해수 한인회장의 개회사를 시작으로 추억 어린 국민체조로 몸을 풀고 신나는 줌바 댄스로 흥을 돋우며 열띤 시합과 응원이 펼쳐졌다. 행사장을 찾은 나이가 지긋하신 한 분은 오랜시간 한인회의 부재로 한인들이 한자리에 모일 기회가 없었는데 이런 자리가 마련되어 너무 기쁘고 즐거웠다며 앞으로도 이런 행사들이 더 많이 만들어져서 한인들이 소통하며 즐거운 시간을 보낼 수 있으면 좋겠다고 했다. 찾아주신 모든 여러분들께 피자, 핫도그, 컵라면과 물을 제공하고, 두 명의 한인 의사들과 3분의 간호사들이 만일에 있을 일에 대비해 의료진을 구성하였고, 퍼듀대학교 경찰서 강성엽 경감이 치안을 담당해 주었으며, 한인회 임원들과 초청된 심판들이 매끄러운 경기 진행를 맡으면서 새로이 발족된 인디애나 한인회의 첫 큰 행사라는 것이 믿기지 않을 정도로 잘 준비된 체육대회였다는 평가를 받았다. 축구에서는 인디애나폴리스 한인성당, 한인장로교회 연합 팀이 우승을 하여 트로피와 상금 $500을 수여 받았으며, 농구에서는 인디애나 대학교 팀 ‘Bullets’가 우승 트로피와 상금 $300을 차지 하였다. 이 밖에 체육대회를 찾은 가족 단위의 여러분들을 위해 마련한 물병 볼링, 줄다리기, 풍선 터뜨리기, 훌라후프 돌리며 뛰기, 콘 볼 던지기, 박 터뜨리기 등 다양한 게임을 마련하여 남녀노소를 가리지 않고 즐거운 시간을 가졌다. 행사 말미에는 한인회 임원들과 이사진(이사장 성봉제)들이 마련한 여러가지 선물들과 라면, 쌀 등을 참석한 모든 여러분들에게 나누어 주며 함께 땀흘리고 웃으며 인디애나의 한인으로서의 유대감을 쌓는 좋은 계기가 되었다. 내년에는 더욱 많은 분들이 참여하여 즐거운 시간을 가지기를 기대해 본다. 인디애나 한인회 행사의 자원봉사를 원하시는 분은 이메일을 주시기 바랍니다. kaaindiana@gmail.com

On April 14, 2019, the 2019 Indiana Korean Athletics Competition was successfully held at Castleview Church in Indianapolis. Despite the heavy weather condition, more than 500 Korean Americans participated in this event. This even not only consisted of team tournaments such as soccer and basketball, but there were also various, fun mini games for all to enjoy. It was great event for our Korean community to come and enjoy time together. The event started with opening remarks by the Korean Association president, President Woo Hae Soo and the memorable national stretching from childhood alongside some exciting zumba dances. One of the elders who attended the event expressed that it was nice to see the Korean community come together in one place and spend time together, which was previously unavailable due to the absence of the Korean Association for years. He was very pleased and hoped that more of these events will take place from here on out. Pizzas, hotdogs, cup ramen noodles, and water were provided for those who attended the event. 2 Korean doctors and 3 nurses present as the onsite medical team, the Korean Association board members, and the referees all collaborated for the smooth flow of the first big event of the newly formed Korean Association of Indiana. People expressed that the event was so well-prepared that it was hard to believe that it was the very first big event of the newly formed Korean Association of Indiana. In soccer, the Indianapolis Korean Catholic Church and the Indianapolis Korean Presbyterian Church formed a team and won the trophy and $500 prize. In basketball, Indiana University team, ‘Bullets’ won the trophy and $300. In addition to the big tournaments, families enjoyed their time with various games such as: water bottle bowling, tug-of-war, popping balloons, hula hoop run, cone ball throwing, and etc. At the end of the ceremony, the Korean American Association executives and directors shared various gifts, rice, ramen, and etc. with all the participants. It was a good bond-building time of fellowship amongst the Korean American community through the sweat and laughter shared. I look forward to seeing more people join next year.
